History & Accomplishments |
Academic History:
Choosing to attend Hampton University in the fall of 1991, I knew I wanted to be a Computer Science major based on my love of computers. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made, as I went on to graduate from Hampton University with honors, and upon graduation received the "Computer Science Student of The Year Award". I also maintained a 3.8 GPA in my major classes while playing the snare drum in the "Marching Force" marching band. In my second year as a Computer Science Major, I was recruited by AT&T Bell Labs to be the recipient of the Bell Labs Scholar Engineering Scholarship, which paid full tution and set me up with interships each summer.
Professional History:
Upon graduation, I joined the workforce with AT&T Bell Labs as a software developer working on everything from Kanji Graphical User Interfaces to internal automation web applications for our organization. I was quickly promoted within 3 years and decided to challenge myself by leaving the company and trying my hand in the IT consulting arena.
I worked in the IT consulting arena mostly developing sophisticated business applications in Visual Basic, SQL 7, and DB2, and also developing web applications on all of the major hardware platforms. The Consulting experience proved to be a great learning experience and confidence builder. I have recently returned to Lucent, recruited by the same group I worked with originally, to help with their automation efforts and product development/engineering. |
