CAMERMAN WHO COVERED 9/11 ATTACKS FACING ALLEGED MURDER CHARGES

Posted By: Siebra Muhammad on September 05, 2010 DENVER--An American cameraman who says September 11 was a lie is facing extradition from Argentina to the United States on alleged murder charges. Kurt Sonnenfeld, a man who was provided provisory refugee status seven years ago, is now wanted by the US government on murder charges. He is the only cameraman that filmed crucial images of Ground Zero in New York after the Twin Towers collapsed. Sonnenfeld, who lives in Buenos Aires with his Argentine family, says the footage proves that 9/11 was a lie. He still has the 22-hour footage that US authorities want. "I have promised to give my footage to the big investigators that are credible and widely known - investigators who will be able to detect anomalies that I or other people without scientific education might miss. With that in mind, I hope that there are many things they can discover that disprove the current official story of what happened," Sonnenfeld told a Press TV correspondent. He says he fears for his life if he is sent back to the United States to face trial. The Denver police have claimed they have evidence that show he killed his first wife in the US. Social activists who are campaigning for Sonnenfeld to be given refugee status in Argentina say the Denver police are lying. The Sonnenfelds say they have been under police surveillance and that their phone has been tapped. Sonnenfeld claims that his footage proves top US government officials were aware of the 2001 terrorist attacks before they occurred says he is a victim of a US plot to silence him. It sure sounds like an attempt to silence him. What evidence do they have that he murdered his wife? I'll have to look into this.

His name has been associated with controversy since 2002 when his first wife died from a gun shot wound to the head. The precise circumstances of her death are unknown, and Kurt Sonnenfeld is currently wanted for her murder by the Colorado police.[5] However, following his wife's death, he was actually arrested for her murder until the prosecution were convinced by the evidence that she had committed suicide. Significant evidence included powder burns on his wife's hand, but not his, as well as a suicide note in her hand writing that was later found. The renewed interest by prosecutors in Colorado is premised on putative confessions Sonnenfeld made to two other cellmates while he was in jail awaiting trial.[6]

The charges against Sonnenfeld were dismissed just before trial in June 2002 after a note written by Nancy Sonnenfeld was found that supported Kurt Sonnenfeld's contention that she took her own life. New charges were filed in 2004, however, after two Denver jail inmates came forward to say Sonnenfeld had confessed to them during his time in custody. By then, Sonnenfeld had remarried and was living in Argentina. He has been fighting extradition ever since, describing the warrants against him as "a false pretext for other darker motives." That drew a sharp rebuke Tuesday from Chief Denver District Attorney Michelle Amico. "I have heard that nonsense from him . . . but then he has nothing to back it up," she said. An Argentine judge refused to extradite Sonnenfeld in 2005 because of concerns that he could face the death penalty. The U.S. Department of Justice appealed that decision, assuring the court that no death sentence would be sought, Amico said. The Justice Department has since been notified that the extradition is on hold while an asylum request is pending, a process that could take months or even years. In a series of recent e-mails to the Rocky Mountain News, Sonnenfeld said Argentina's highest court had rejected the appeal and had sent his case back to the presiding judge for ratification. Sonnenfeld did not bring up 9/11 when the initial murder case was pending against him or during a lengthy interview with the Rocky on the day he was released from jail. He also declined to specifically discuss the World Trade Center in a 12-page, single-spaced document he sent to the newspaper in late-night e-mail sessions Sunday and Monday. "You are asking me to antagonize the very people who, for whatever reason, desperately want me destroyed," Sonnenfeld wrote. "Frankly, I am afraid for the safety of my family. Please don't ask me about what information I have. This is not really the time or the forum." As always, he maintained his innocence in his wife's death. "I love Nancy. Nancy's death was tragic, heartbreaking and affected many people. But it is clear to everyone who knows the truth that she committed suicide. It was not a homicide," he wrote. Sonnenfeld blasted accounts of his alleged jailhouse confession as "absurd." Nancy Sonnenfeld's family, meanwhile, is firmly convinced of his guilt. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2007...
