UNCF An Evening of Stars® Tribute to Lionel Richie Nominated for NAACP Image Award!

The NAACP recently announced the nominees for the 42nd NAACP Image Awards in Beverly Hills, CA, and UNCF An Evening of Stars® Tribute to Lionel Richie was nominated in the "Outstanding Variety" category. The winner will be announced on Friday, March 4, and the award show airs at 8 p.m.ET on FOX.

More than 1,200 entries were received with 300 industry professionals and NAACP leaders selecting five nominees in each of the 53 categories. Only NAACP members can vote for the nominees in each category to select the winners. If you are an NAACP member, please cast your vote for UNCF An Evening of Stars® Tribute to Lionel Richie. UNCF has won two awards for past tributes to Smokey Robinson (2008) and Stevie Wonder (2006).



The NAACP Image Awards celebrates people of color in television, music, literature and film and their accomplishments. Lionel Richie, an alum of the prestigious UNCF-member institution Tuskegee University, has had a lifelong music career with such hits as "Truly," "Say You, Say Me," and "Dancing on the Ceiling." UNCF is proud to be nominated along with the 60,000 students and 900 colleges and universities we support.

NAACP members only can vote after receiving the latest issue of CRISIS magazine which gives each member a unique ballot number. If you're not an NAACP member and wish to vote, you may join by calling the NAACP Baltimore's membership department at 410.580.5626.

Voting on-line can be done until 12 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 27. Mailed-in ballots must be received by Saturday, Feb. 26.
