The McGraw-Hill Companies is seeking an undergraduate student to join its Global New Media team for a 10-12 week full-time paid summer internship. The UI/Design position is located in New York City for students currently completing his/her junior year of college. The UI/Design Intern will assist the team by assisting in UI/Design projects. A highly motivated candidate will have the opportunity to gain significant hands-on experience, coaching from experienced business professionals, and unique insights into how apply real world UI/Design strategy is developed and executed at a leading global firm. The UI/Design Intern will assist the lead multimedia designer within our Global New Media team. The UI/Design Intern will have an opportunity to own web design projects from ideation all the way through to implementation such as blogs, email campaigns, internal and external site design, social media design (Facebook pages, Twitter backgrounds, logos for social, etc). During the internship, the candidate will be working with our New Media group in the areas of: * User Experience * Web Design * Information Architecture * Web Development * Video The work completed during the summer internship program will support the Global New Media team. Check out some of the online presences you'll be working on: - www.mcgraw-hill.com - www.mcgraw-hill.com/social - www.twitter.com/mcgrawhillcos - www.facebook.com/mcgrawhill - www.youtube.com/mcgrawhill Qualifications * Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree at an accredited four year college/university * Completed junior year by the start of the internship * Overall 3.0 or better * Knowledge of Web Design, HTML and User Experience * An online portfolio is idea * Knowledge of branding and brand identity strategy * Experience in design for social media platforms a plus * Ability to work independently and proactively * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Experience with design/development in Adobe CS, DreamWeaver, Flash, WordPress, Facebook * Knowledge of wireframing tools such as Visio or Omnigraffle is a plus. * Currently obtaining credits towards a degree in Communications/New Media or equivilent About the Company Like to have a 1,000 foot view?
