The Home Depot is overjoyed to be in the second exciting year of our RETOOL YOUR SCHOOL Campus Improvement program. This year, we've received over a million votes for dozens of HBCUs, and now the competition is on. Last year, we awarded grants totalling $150,000 to HBCUs, including a $50,000 award to Elizabeth City State University to help them achieve the objective of building a new baseball field for the school and the neighboring community. Ten additional schools received $10,000 for a variety of projects ranging from landscaping to lighting to sprinkler systems. As we count this year's votes, our distinguished panel of judges are reviewing the entries, and helping select schools and proposals deemed most deserving of much-needed improvements This year's grant recipients will be announced May 16, 2011. Be sure to check back to find out which schools will be awarded the grant money, and then visit the site often for ongoing campus improvement progress updates.
