BULLS News: WFAE’s Charlotte Talks host Mike Collins Interviews JCSU Professor
|
Posted By: Hija Chang on February 27, 2012 WFAE’s Charlotte Talks host Mike Collins interviewed JCSU Associate Professor Cindy Kistenberg, Actor and Director Lou Bellamy and Community Activist Sarah Stevenson last week. The show featured how the university is continuing to “lead the way on what is becoming a profound revitalization of the west side of Charlotte.” “The venerable university is expanding its own campus and it’s working closely with city leaders to reposition the west side as a bastion of education and culture. Now the University is bringing in Lou Bellamy, one of the most prolific and successful black actors and directors in the business. Mr. Bellamy is teaming up with the school’s theatre department and community activists to reawaken cultural awareness on the west side. They will start with an August Wilson play but have much more up their sleeves. We’ll find out more.”- Charlotte Talks Lou Bellamy is Founder and Artistic Director of the Penumbra Theatre. He recently visited campus to visit with students in Cindy Kistenberg’s visual and performing arts class.
