Finding Happiness By Russell Simmons
|
Posted By: Hija Chang on May 04, 2012 Posted 6 hours 9 min ago by Russell Simmons We often talk about the pursuit of happiness and most times we believe that happiness is something you can get up and go get. Well today in meditation, I remembered the truth and I thought I would remind you as well. Happiness cannot be increased by anything or anybody. The only way to lasting happiness is the road that travels inside one’s soul. You can gain riches or admiration from a "loved one," but they will have nothing to do with your level of happiness. This, of course, is proven by many studies - yet we forget. We must remember that the spirit is innately happy and we should look to spiritual practices to connect to our natural state. Let's remember that the more we attach ourselves to chasing happiness outside ourselves, the more this "neediness" causes suffering. Remember the only rich man is the one who is awake and free from "neediness.” Neediness is the cause of suffering. And for those who don't accept this fact, which was taught by all the prophets, accept this: "Those who need nothing attract everything.” So here's a morning prayer for the happiness of all people of compassion. Namaste. -Russell Simmons Read more: http://globalgrind.com/news/finding-happin... If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
