William E. Boswell is a former senior executive of BP America and the Internal Revenue Service. He has over thirty-five years of management experience guiding small, large, and diverse teams. He spent 30 years working for BP America and affiliated and successor companies in the U.S. and abroad, retiring as senior vice president in Cleveland, Ohio in 1999. He then accepted a special appointment as Director, Agency Wide Shared Services of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. for 4 years. His responsibilities at IRS included managing personnel, overseeing buildings, and supervising security for the agency. He was serving in that role during the September 11, 2001 attack. He retired in 2003.
Boswell wrote this book after his retirement to identify issues that hinder success and to offer practical guidance that can be beneficial both professionally and socially. He hopes that the book will improve the likelihood of an individual’s personal and/or organizational success.
A graduate of Virginia State University, he holds a Masters Degree from Case Western Reserve University. This Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is also a graduate of The Executive Program at the University of Michigan. He draws on his extensive public, private, and community service experience to present this powerful, practical, and useful book titled Success by Instinct: Use What Animals Already Know to Boost Your Career. He and his wife, Gracie, currently reside in Chapel Hill, N.C.
