TITLE: Tennis Service Representative - Chicago
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Community Tennis
LOCATION: Based out of Chicago, Illinois
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Plus, some weekends and nights on occasion
OVERVIEW OF THE USTA/MIDWEST SECTION
The USTA/Midwest Section exceeds 80,000 individual members and 1,000 member organizations. It is the second largest section of the United States Tennis Association, the National Governing Body for tennis in the U.S. The association is comprised of 14 districts in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin as well as designated counties in West Virginia and Kentucky. SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Travels throughout the city of Chicago providing service, consultation and business strategies to customers. Work with individual facilities and provide personalized service and support to the people who operate them. The service and support provided can take many different forms including but not limited to assistance with event marketing or program development, timely awareness of available grants or resources, connection to local or national knowledge experts within a specific field or program area. Service is delivered through all avenues of the tennis delivery system including clubs, schools, parks, and /or service organizations by traveling an average of three days per week all year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts sales calls and meetings
2. Requires extensive travel via automobile
3. Responsible for administration, reports, phone calls, data entry
4. Responsible for special events, booth, and program support
5. Various other job duties as required
SPECIAL PROJECTS:
1. Planning, organizing and implementing QuickStart events
2. Planning and implementing physical education teacher in-services
3. Planning and implementing Community Tennis Association Workshops; and Coaches Trainings
4. Presenting at state, district and regional Conferences and Workshops
5. TSR Liaison to section committees
6. Assist with USTA/Midwest Section Junior Team Tennis Championships
7. Assist with booth duties for Professional tournaments (when applicable)
8. Determine 10-and-under Youth Team Tennis / Quick Start sites within territory
9. Attend District Board of Director's meetings
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Within the Company Interaction: Program support & information, exchange of ideas, grant information, media relations, marketing & membership initiatives up to 15-50% of total working hours
Outside the Company Interaction: Customer base, program support, grant information, marketing, and membership initiatives up to 15-50% of total working hours
Positions - Directors of Tennis, Head Pros, Recreation Supervisors, Directors of Recreation, Schools, Park and Recreation Administrators, Tennis facility Owners; Tennis professionals; YMCA/YWCA employees; Country Club Administration; Corporation administration; ATP Tournament Directors; Service Organization administration, Superintendents, Head of Physical Education, Physical Education teachers, High School Coaches, Non-Profit Board of Directors, Program Coordinators, Athletic Directors, Principals, Business people (Attorneys and Accountants), Tennis instructors, and club owners.

Travel destinations: Around geographic territory within the city of Chicago, the Midwest Section Office in Indianapolis, and as needed to local, District, Sectional, and National meetings and workshops
QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year college degree
Four years of work experience
Computer experience in Microsoft Office products
Excellent Presentation skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Highly motivated self-starter, enthusiastic personality with the desire to promote and grow tennis
Must be able to travel and work weekends as required
Experience playing tennis, preferred
Experience teaching / coaching tennis, preferred
USPTA/PTR certification - preferred
Club experience - preferred
Sales experience - preferred
