POSITION OVERVIEW
All Root food service operations serve as a training vehicle for the Youth Development Program. The Program Director is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of comprehensive youth development program(s) for at-risk youth ages 16-24.
The Program Director reports to the Executive Director.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Executive Leadership & Program Management
● Provide overall supervision of the Youth Development Program(s), program staff and volunteers.
● Ensure that all Root personnel are working in collaboration and cooperation toward the goals of our mission to serve at-risk youth.
● Implement, continuously evaluate and improve program design and curriculum, and standards.
● Ensure care and supervision of all program participants.
● Provide program staff with day-to-day supervisory and support necessary for them to effectively implement the youth development program(s). Including providing feedback, coaching and additional training when required.
● Develop and implement planning and project management processes to ensure the effectiveness of the Youth Development Program(s).
● Collaborate with partner service providers to ensure a common mission, mutual goals, and shared decision making for maximum benefit to program participants.
● Foster relationships with local schools, universities, businesses and other community youth and education programs to enhance the Youth Development Program.
● As a member of the Executive staff, assist with policy advocacy on local, state and national levels.
● Supervise and ensure database tracking and reporting of each program participants progress and measurable outcomes.
● Supervise and ensure that all Program Curricula consisting of lesson plans, schedules, tests, etc. for Culinary, Barista, Career Planning, Life Skills and Customer Service are continuously updated and implemented.
● Supervise and ensure that outreach and recruitment of program participants are performed in a manner to maximize the success of participants and the program.
● Supervise and ensure that all program participants exiting the program receive follow-up including potential employment placement, education, and wrap-around services for one full year beyond their completion of the program.
● Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public.
● Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with the organization's constituents, community groups, and organizations.
● Assist with fundraising (presenting program to funders, participate in fundraising events and assisting with grant writing)
● Develop, lead and manage the implementation of workforce develop training (resume writing, career goal planning, interviewing skills, dressing for success, mentor match, etc.).
