^^ yeah, i had generally assumed you were in college too for some reason
anyway i wouldn't be a true senior if i didn't rep my class
'05!!!!!!! we live!!!!!!!
lol.. ok, let me get that out my system before i graduate soon
but anyway -- go 'head class of '06! you do your thing! keep holding it down as upperclassmen in highschool! it's your turn now! oh before i go lemme whisper something in ya ear... HAMPTON!!! haha.. esp to the young men, we need to balance out this crazy male:female ratio. LOLok - lemme get out yall's post now
^^ cosigns on that last question
ok -- imma be a lil different... seems like almost everyone's in love with that song, but i never really cared for gwen stefani and i've become especially annoyed with the stuff she's been coming out with lately. when i hear "hollaback girl" it makes me want to cover my ears and frown like a kindergartener at a school band concert. it makes no difference if she was white, black, or green.. i aint feelin the song. i wanna hurt the kids at my school when they start up with that "B-A-N-A-N-A-S" mess. lol!
i know the song's a hit so Gwen should keep doin' her thing, but it's just NOT for me. just my opinion...
why is everybody making a big deal about homeboy's hair?? i think he looked good in that video. period. and the boy's 18 - he's growing up and tha tats and those abs are a result of that and i aint mad at him.
anyway, i think "Let Me Hold You" is such a sweet song and i love that Omarion does the chorus. those boys are really doing their thing... i think i liked the Spring Bling performance better than the video - i guess the video wasn't as great as my expectations after hearing the song.. but i love it anyway!!
the ultimate choice should really be solely yours.. it's always good to hear people's opinions on things, but i'm one to believe the whole "follow your heart thing." sorry.
however, you asked what would we do if we were in your shoes.. girl, i would be packing my bags for Howard come this fall. especially after you said it was somewhere you always wanted to go. i mean, Ivy League schools are great in their own way. they have their benefits and disadvantages - just like HBCUs. the thing with the Ivies is that i think too many people get too caught up in the name and think that to suceed the greatest you need to have that desired 'Ivy League education.' Howard University is a great school. The potential you have to suceed is within you and you can do your thing anywhere if you work hard enough. I was kinda faced with a similar situation. My teachers.. friends.. family thought i'd apply to Ivy League schools cuz of my high academic standings and all. They were surprised when i applied to none. I just knew that i didn't want to be in the Ivy environment. I'd rather be in a HBCU one. That's why i chose Hampton. Just a few weeks ago, the head guidance counselor basically told me he thought i could do better, referring to Havard or Yale over Hampton. But I never really doubted my decision. Hope this helps ya out some!
good questions... i'm in the same boat as you.. it'll be my first time going to high school day and i'm not quite sure what to expect. but i was just talking to another girl who's also coming in this fall and she went to high school day last year. she said that it's a casual event.. so i'd say the dress could be something like jeans and a nice shirt.. something casual but presentable. she said that there wasn't that great a deal of parents around. she's going with her best friend and i'm thinking about going down with my sister or godsister. she said that if you stay the night at a hotel there were mad parties that night. and for info about what to expect for the day you can go to www.hamptonu.edu/highschoolday.. hope this was helpful.. oh, and i'll probably be seeing you on apr 1st, gurl!
ok.. i'll admit it.. i've been procrastinating a little bit on all the college stuff. but now i'm tryna take care of my responsibilities and deadlines and get all that stuff squared away. and so now i'm finding myself thinking about my 'future' all the time and coming up with all these questions like:
*what are the freshman girls dorms like at hampton??? i'm supposed to put down my top 2 preferences but i have no idea. when i toured hampton they didn't show us any of the dorms and i forgot about which one had AC, which one has better rooms.. etc.
*is it a hassle to have a major and minor in two completely different areas?? cuz i'm interested in both bio and print journalism.. what are those majors like?
basically i'm just a slightly anxious incoming freshman wanting to get some info on how things are at hu. i'd appreciate any kind of insight, especially about girls dorms and academics.
he's a keeper, when it seems like nearly everything about him just feels right.. not being picky or anything. i mean, even his faults.. he may not be fine, can't dress, talks too loud, and is a lil too arrogant but all of a sudden, i'm finding all that cute.. he's a keeper when he genuinely can make me smile... when he does lil things that makes him know his focus is on me and that he cares... when he's easy to talk to and i can feel completely comfortable around him.. when i know he'll understand and i can trust him with my most personal business because he respects me like that.. he's a keeper when i'm not around him but i'm completely happy doing something else and i realize i wish he was there to share the moment with me.
he falls off when we lose that connection.. when the look in his eyes is no where near what it was like when we first met.. when his intentions are off point and if he becomes offensive.. he falls off if i realize he's too caught up in the game - too materialistic, trying too hard to follow everyone else.. whan he starts disrespecting other women in his life.. he falls off if he starts playing childish games.
ohh -- and being a christian man is definately on the keeper list
i got a unique middle name & i love it.. i used to not as much but i love it now. it's: FRAZIER. It's my mom's maiden name and her second middle name now.
r.i.p. Clifford Frazier
^^ wow.. very impressive record! best of luck to you @ morehouse next year..
sorry i can't be too much help on this topic.. being that i aint in college yet neither. i'll be in hampton's class on '09 though my advice would be to visit both of the schools if you can. you can talk to students there plus get your own feel for things. if you can't.. just PM some currents students at hampton and clark.. best of luck to you too
congrats lilbrownqt and atlchynadawl and everyone else gettin them big white envelopes in the mail.. ya gurl also just got accepted in hampton. i got the news last night. hopefully i'll see yall there!
