The first thing I notice about a lady is her temperment. My biggest turn off is a stank, nasty attitude. My biggest turn on is a nice, yet assertive lady with goals of her own and ambitious. Everything else will fall in place.
Even as a Jaguar, I can not deny the impact that Coach Rob has had on all phases of African American Life. His motto was "One School, One Job, One Woman" and he truly lived up to his words, letting his actions speak for him. We have lost not only a legend and coach, we lost a great man, whose work shaped the lives of thousands of people, broke down stereotypes of millions of African Americans, and legacy that will continue to influence billions worldwide. Coach Rob, we will sorely miss you and we hope to see you again someday in glory.
Anybody on this site go to Southern? what's it like?
Good or bad school?
are they just giving away degrees?
are the dorms dangerous or rowdy?
is Baton Rouge messed up from Hurricane Katrina?
How are the dudes and females?
Thinking about going there in the Fall and so confused!
I go to Southern and I'm about to graduate in May 2007.
I will share this with you.
First of all, if you have any negative thoughts about a school then maybe you should not consider it. All schools have their problems and you will run into some trouble wherever you go. You just need to do some research and stop thinking so negative. You're showing your age.
Southern is a great school with a lot of history and pride. The engineering, nursing school, agricultural department, and too many to name are all very good programs.
If you think you just going to walk into Southern and walk out with a degree without hard work, you are sadly mistaken. You will work hard for your degree and many things you would have to sacrifice to make sure you stay on top. The professors will not give you an easy ride, and they will fail you. If you're not serious, you will be in school six or more years...
As a resident assistant, the dorms are pretty straight as far as in behavior and you will be fine if you are not messy and take care of your business. If you are messy, expect to be dealt with.
And if you watched the Weather Channel and did some research, you would know Baton Rouge did not get severly damaged by Hurricane Katrina. I recommend before you even consider looking at attending a college you do some research, wiki it even, and read some books. You are in college to do two things: graduate and find a career. You will have fun, though.
The men and the women are so different in prefereces and attitudes that you can not classify them as the same. Don't think that because there is a great number of Blacks in one areas that they are all the same. The best thing to do is to be amicable and get to know people.
Good Luck.
A good man:
1. Walks in front of me to protect me.
2. Walks beside as my equal (emotionally, physically, and yes intellectually)
3. Walks behind me to help push me to reach my goals.
You know you're and HBCU Oldhead if...You remember when Rosie used to hit on every other female on here...
