There isn't a secret at all to why AKA's aren't probating. They are involved in a bunch of mess on most campuses and the nationals want let them. Actually, I knew the answer, but I was just curious to what the AKA'S were going to say on this discussion board. And they lived up to their usual standard that they have, which is having a nasty attitude. Their attitudes stank (not stinks, but STANKS), and they need to get a reality check! The world does not revolve around greek life, but they will get a rude awakening when they step out into the real world. The AKA's really have a wonderful National president now, she is really going in there and changing things. She has a wonderful platform. She is also changing the terminology of how they refer to potential members. They are no longer called "pledges", but now canidates. Also, there is no more use of the terms: lines, line numbers, sands, crossing over, pledges, etc. Those old terms have a connotation to hazing, and I think that probating is also a form of hazing. So that is the reason why they aren't doing anymore probating.
So much wrong information in here that its comical. Potential members haven't been called pledges since hazing was abolished (can you guess what year?). The term "probate" refers to an aspect of pledging that existed in the time of pledge clubs. No one does probates anymore. They do coming out shows, presentations, etc. And every line that I've seen come over these semester has line names and numbers. This is what happens when people who aren't AKAs dabble in AKA business. The get things WRONG.
I didn't see any sorority pictures or trademarks in the pictures. I saw things associated with AKA in the pictures such as pink, green, pearls and mirrors, but I didn't see anything in the pictures that would honestly hold up in a court of law as copyright infringement. But honestly, I dunno as of yet how Nationals will be handling this. I'm tryna focus on that sheepskin.
Honestly, I mean, good luck to you either way. You won't be "pledging" until at 2010, and by then who knows how these things will go. No harm, no foul.
What can you really do though? Obviously it's not official. It's some random dudes popping up and doing their own thing. Who knows what they do or what they practice? I didn't see any sorority secrets in any of those pictures and pages so I just assume it's just some dudes that went a little too far.
