Its not just Hampton, its everywhere. I heard a story about a Black woman Newanchor who was told that her hair was too ethnic and that it needed to be permed and straigthened. It's all about how white people want us to look. As close to them as possible. Hampton isn't alone to blame.
A friend of mines who goes to PennState was telling me how they got rid of the monority admissions office as part of a trend among PWIs. Their argument is that race is no longer a factor in college admissions...which is complete bullshit. Like AfroPoetic Sista said...we need to make a big deal about it.
It's gonna be a topic of discussion between me and my future spouse. Regardless of whether or not we were both professionals or not. Marriage is not just about love, it's a partnership. I look at it from a business aspect. This is just an insurance policy for me to protect my interest brought into the marriage. I'd expect her to consider it especially if she came into the marriage with money. If you get past the emotional aspect of it, it's not that serious. You can sign one, live happily ever after, and never talk about it again. No big deal. My mother told me this about marriage..."No matter how mich you think you know or prepare yourself for it, you'll never be prapared to deal with what you'll experience." Nothing is certain. Divorce is nothing but a last option for me. If and when I have to use it, best believe I'm tryna keep all MY STUFF. Lol.
