well our dorm has been notorious for having COUNTLESS fire alarms almost every other day...and yes we have to evacuate every time too. People stealing furniture from the lounges...people stealing WALLETS out of people's rooms (I just so happened to be a victim last semester)...people shytting in the shower stalls and then writing "Go Dawgs" on the wall with their finger (yes, IN the shyt)...umm people pissing in the sinks and then the whole floor having to have midnight hall meetings with the RA because of these incidents...this dorm is a mess and I can't wait to be in my damn apartment next year
umm...one of our dining halls will be open 24hrs after spring break...there are talks of opening a medical school campus soon...
that's all...I don't really keep up with what goes on at this place...I'll be gone after this year
ok I have a lecture to attend @ 6pm so I'll just leave my questions and check back on the responses later
- Do you think that our community is doing enough to educate ourselves on the issue?
- In your opinion, why is this such a taboo subject in not only the black community but the black gay community as well?
- What precautions do you take in terms of sexual activity. Do you fear being reinfected with another strain of the virus?
- What have you done, personally, to educate others about the issue?
- With the betterment of meds and with more and more patients having extremely low viral loads and high t-cell counts, and the availibility of Prophylaxis...do you think people will become more careless? (i.e bareback sex, "bug chasing", etc.), or do you think we'll continue the fight?
- With increasing free access to the OraQuick Advance Rapid HIV Antibody test and counseling in major metropolitan areas such as Atlanta and New York...why are people NOT getting tested. Is it the fear of knowing? Is it the lack of knowledge?
- Have you had any issues with the costs of meds? Do you think this is still a problem for many patients?
I could probably think of a billion more but I'm in a rush...Thank you for your time!
Hey yall !
I know I haven’t been through here in a minute but I am currently a Freshman at Hampton University where I was voted Miss Freshman. I am a Biology ( Pre Dentistry) major and I am just enjoying my overall college experience while taking life one day at a time. Thank you all for your wonderful help and support my senior year of high school while I was stressing over which college was best for me to attend. I am so very thankful for all of your advice, encouragement, and guidance on my throughout journey. Special thanks to Nate, Jimmie, and Chan
lol haven't heard from you in a long time....didn't know where you ended up going...but Hampton is definitely wassup....good to know that you're doing well
the movie looks like corny GARBAGE to me...and you're right...it looks like a You Got Served/Drumline mix and both of those movies weren't so great...Drumline had a bittersweet effect on the marching band world and I feel as if this movie will do the same to the Black Greek community
I'll pass
Hmmm...so much has happened, and so little room to type. Well, I guess i'll start with the fact that i'm not in school anymore. Yes, sad...i know...but I left Howard to travel and be with my sweetypie. His name is Sebastian Telfair and he's a pro-baller. I initially moved to Portland when he was playing for the Trailblazers, but now we're in Boston. We're engaged to be married on June 6, 2007 because it falls right in between both of our birthdays (june 3 & june 9). Oh, and we're also expecting our first child...yay us! :-D
Stop lying to these people!! I just saw you the other day!! LMAO
LMAO my ass was over here in shock...
but at any rate...after going through my entire high school career wanting to go to Howard and be pre-med...I made a silly decision and ended up at the University of Georgia as a management info systems/computer science double major with an emphasis on pre-business...I'm still on my instrument and play for the UGA wind ensemble...I've also gotten some of my writing published in literary mags....I'm also a health counselor on the issues of mainly AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases/safe sex
there's a possibility of me transferring and being a student at Morehouse or Howard next year depending on where I can get the best offer and best bargain on an apartment
that's about it...nice seeing some of y'all that haven't been on here in ages lol
I've heard Ciara's new album and that shyt is hot...I'm actually impressed and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to music...I will most def be buying it
personally, i just don't agree with Ciara's weave. the black hair works for him, but the huge curly weave doesn't work. I think he needs to go back to the carrot orange straight hair.
lol @ "he"...you are so silly...but I like the new song/video...and SHE looks best with the plain black hair
lol and how the HELL did I end up at a PWC...I was all on Howard's tip in high school...but that's fine because I'll be at Morehouse next fall
I was asking myself that very question this weekend as I browsed archives... transferring to the House? oh, that'll be fun.
man, is it really that bad down yonder?
hell yea it is...none of what I said is an exaggeration...people keep telling me that I'll look back and realize that it "isn't that bad" but I highly doubt that...even the black upperclassmen tell me that it gets worse as the years go on...so I'm about to nip it in the bud ASAP
i was actually looking into transfering to Uga..lol
ummmmm....NO. Brotha I can't let you do that to yourself. In all seriousness, don't give any of your money to this institution...If you're looking for a school in Georgia; look into Tech, Emory, or Morehouse....those schools are actually worth something outside of the southeastern United States...well, actually I take that back...if you're looking to study business, law, veterinary medicine, or journalism then UGA is great...but everything else is bullsh!t
