Unfortunately, I will not be at the Charter Day Dinner this year.....*tear drop* The lobster...the champagne...the open bar...the appetizers...the networking...the elegance! I'm mad Im gonna miss it. And Im especially mad because Yolanda Adams is performing and I'll be at home. Anyone going to be there?

Damn you got a hookup? Does anyone know the name of the guy who is the intramural basketball coach and works in the Office of Special Events. He said he'd hook a sister up.

The AKA's dont get tickets? They used to give tickets to every campus organization, like the Hilltop, Yearbook staff, etc.

Charter Day Dinner is, of course, a dinner, but it's also a fundraising event for the University. Some people go to network with other alumni and students. There is usually a keynote speaker and everyone who gives money to the school is recognized. Its sort of like the conclusion to the Charter Day festivities. *It feels so great to be able to educate young Bison*

Charter Day Dinner is a formal dinner put on by Swygert and the trustees as a celebration and close to the Charter Day Ceremony (which is held the day before). The dinner also works as a fundraiser to make money for "the campaign for Howard" which is an initiative that Swygert started to generate private funds and donations towards the university. They also use the dinner to recognize successful and notable alumni. Adrian Fenty (current mayor of DC) was given an award, Isaih Legget (Montgomery County Exective in Md.), William R. Martin (lawyer), Jack B. Johnson (county exective on Prince George's County in Md.), and Isabel A. Wilkerson (Pulitzer Prize winning journalist) were given alumni acheivement awards. Oh, and Yolanda Adams and BeBe Winans sang there this year. The dinner is such a big deal because the ticket price is usually around 250-300 dollars. Students usually only get an opportunity to go because certain organizations on campus are alloted a select amount of tickets (HUSA, the chapel, student councils, the hilltop, etc.). The dinner is more geared towards alumni, dignitaries, and basically people with status and doe lol. There is wine and champagne at every table, A server for each table (there were about 300 tables this year), and you get like a 5 course meal with lobster, steak and all kinds of ish that most people can't pronounce lol. It's quite bourgiousie, and a lil boring at times...but a fulfilling and unique experience nonetheless. Definately an HU event that I would recommend going to if given the opportunity
