Well in case you havent ever played for a high school or college prepatory athletic team, in which case you shouldnt be judging them anyway, you would know the same amount of work goes into preparing for college athletics as college academics...
  • You may spend all night studying, but did you spend all summer running 330 yard sprints in 104 degree weather...
  • You may have to take prepare for the SAT's, but did you have to spend the last 2 months working in a gym relentlessly to prepare for a combine...
Am I underminding the amount of energy it takes to succeed academically...no. Im just sick of people underminding what it takes to succeed athletically... Or even both, like my "he only hea for football" a**... when i probally have better grades and scores than some on academic scholarship...

@BisonBoy - I totally understand your comments. I know it takes a lot to maintain your GPA and play sports. I played football during high school as well. We practiced Monday - Thursday from 2:30PM – 5:30PM. Our games were on Friday night at 7:00PM. We worked out on Saturday morning for about 2 hours. Football was my life from July to November. In addition to sports, I had to do homework for about 2 hours per night. Therefore, I did not go to sleep until around 11PM. In Tennessee, school starts at 7AM. Therefore, I had to wake up at 5:30AM every morning. When you play sports, it’s very challenging to excel academically and athletically. Therefore, I understand why the GPA requirement is slightly lower for athletes. If you take sports out the equation, an athlete GPA would probably be higher than the average student. However, academics should always be the priority.
