Okay so I'm a biology major and I want to know who do i go to for the alternative pin. I already talked to an advisor then they said Bio majors have their own. Then I tried to talk to Dr. L. Dickson and he's not making sense so any help??? Also how exactly do we take the math placement exam. I went to the site and clicked for the test but it came up blank

All students who require an alternate pin for registration are supposed to get them from their academic advisor. If your advisor doesnt give you your pin, then that person doesnt know what he/she is doing. When i was a freshmen, the placement exams could only be taken at Pre-Orientation or Freshmen Orientation. If they have them available online now, thats something new to me....

You don't register until late July/early August unless you go to Pre-O where they will help you register. The alternate pin is for your second semester and registering for sophomore year and the years after that. Your scheme should be available online if you want to search your classes but web registration does not open up to incoming freshman until the end of the summer! Don't know what your advisor was talking about because if Howard had to give all of their incoming freshman alternate pins with the state of their current communication system....NOBODY would be registering! Oh and you can't register in the summer if your don't have all your paperwork in or if you haven't taken the math placement test. Did it last summer and it was nothing to sweat over!

MATH PLACEMENT EXAM... http://howard.blackboard.com * Log in to blackboard (do not include the @) same pin as Bisonweb * Click the "Math Placement Exam" Link on the right-hand corner (should be under "my courses") *Read/Follow the instructions The sample test is hella hard, but the actual test is not that bad from what I heard (I haven't taken it yet). The test goes up to Pre-cal/trig but you can be placed in calculus

I already took my math placement exam.....go on Blackboard and sign in using the same thing you use for bisonweb...without the @ sign.....howard.edu/blackboard or just go to hu's main website and looking in the bottom left corner for the link and when u get to black board it will tell you that math placement test is one of ur courses....there are 3 parts and you have to remember your score for the reccomendation yeah the sample test is harder than the real test.....but it depends on what level of math youve taken...I took up to Pre Calculus and it was just ok for me...I thought it was kinda difficult but I ended up getting reccomended for Calculus I so do ur best

the math test is basic. I got placed in calculus but only needed to talk Algebra I for my major. I had already taken AP Calc in HS but in my opinion the test doesnt matter because depending on your major you have to take certain courses anyways. just dont put anything in there and you should be fine. Most majors require Alg 1 and Alg II... Technical Majors require higher. If you are really horrible in math....you can always register for basic math (no credit though) but it will help you learn all the stuff that you might have missed in HS.
