Are CIAA schools low quality in peoples eyes? Posted on 07-20-2005

I go to Fayetteville State and I was just wondering if people outside the CIAA think of us all low quality Institutions. Sometimes I am embarrased to say where I go to school at when I am asked even though I love my school.

Inferiority complexes are self-defeating.

The thing that sets apart CIAA from NCAA is the fact that CIAA is D-II and NCAA is D-I. They still produce the same talent (ex. Ben Wallace, Pippin, and many more, however CIAA players might work little harder to be recognized). If you know anything about the CIAA, its like a close nit family, The CIAA tournament is basically like a big ass family reunion. So na, be proud of your CIAA school, cuz Lord knows I love my lil ghetto ass school…lol

I feel like as long you getting your higher education from an ACCREDITATED college or university thats all that matters. No need to be ashamed of going to a CIAA school. A young black person tryin to better themselves is always a great thing, regardless of where it is at.

Nah, definitely don't be ashamed of Bowie State. Both of my parents graduated from Bowie State and they're doing great in life... And you're absolutely right about that diploma thing. It's all the same. A year or so after you finish, all anyone's gonna care about is that you have one. They're not gonna care what school you went to, or how long it took you to get it, or even really what your GPA was. They just care that you have a college degree. Now grad school may be a little different though...
