.....Friday I was walking to my class in Ten Hoor by the Stadium and I almost freaked out when I saw the Phi Beta Sigma Letters on a White Man. I knew Fraternities and Sororities Intergrated years ago.....but what is your honest reaction about White's or any other race becoming a Alpha or Kappa or AKA or SGrho?....

Honestly, I have no problem with it. There are a lot of women in my oganization who are not of African American descent, and i have the same love and respect for them regardless. That's one of the things that led me to this org, the fact that there is such a variety, and the ability for everyone to be individuals, yet still be connected. Same goes for my brothers

It's kind of a double edged sword. I have no problem with a white or other in my organization (one of the best frat I've ever known is Indian).
However, I do wonder why a white person would want to join an organization that relies so heavily on African imagery and symbolism.
But alas, black people can't have it both ways. . . we can't fight to matriculate at their schools, patronize their businesses, and join their social clubs without EXPECTING them to reciprocate.
So to summarize, if you're already a brother, I don't treat you any differently. But I question the motive of a white/other aspirant.
Phi Beta Sigma is an organization that focuses on the "inclusive we" instead of the "exclusive we". Therefore, they are more apt to open their membership to people from all walks of life.

^ do u not realize that Black culture is the most influentical culture there is and ever was
why wouldn't they wannabe a part of it
everything we do is copied, mimicked, and appreciated (some just show it in ugly ways)
because we're just that nice
Honestly I don't have a problem with it. Sometimes it catches me off guard to see a white person in a BGLO but I know that they had to work just as hard as I did to earn their letters.

just as hard?...Cmon be serious
they had to work twice as hard because they were white..
Sure that may be true for some of them but not all of them. The few white people that I have talked to that are in a BGLO said that they were actually treated the same as their line sisters.

Im not in a greek organizaiton yet but hope to be in one and i think that the 9 founded organizations should be for the people of color thats my opinion it started out that way keep the tradition going the founders of them left a legacy for "the people" to have to call their own it has nothing to do with allowing whites in anything. didnt they have their own soroities and fraternities? i beleive it should remain being a traditional thing black college students have to look forward too and to call their own keeping it strictly black is fyne by me but you if the regulations allows others i cant say anything about it but me personally think that the BLACK greek organizations should stay within its own thats why we have HBCU its historically black its historical it represents history thats just my opinion we need things to call ur own!

I do agree with the above comments. I think that would be kind of a double standard because that type of exclusion because of race is the exact kind of thing that our relatives and ancestors fought against, and if that were to happen, that would make us (and the organizations we represent ) hypocrits (hopefully I spelled it right), and just as wrong as the people that did it in the past.
