Dental Assistant II (6871)
The Dental Assistant II performs dental assisting duties for the School of Dental Medicineís Edwardsville and Alton clinics. These duties include but are not limited to assisting dental students, faculty, or residents who are performing procedures; maintaining the treatment area by preparing, cleaning, and disinfecting the area before and after each patient appointment; and completing all required work in the clinical management software system. This position also prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization or disposes of instruments and equipment appropriate with the Infection Control/Hazard control policy, maintains and assures accuracy of computer logs, including procedures accomplished, cancelations and broken appointments, and other progress forms as required. The Dental Assistant II may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities in support of the departmentís mission and goals.

Qualifications & Requirements One year (12 months) of work experience in dental assisting comparable to that performed at the Dental Assistant I level of this series.
Graduation from an accredited dental assisting school.
Current Certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by the Dental Assisting National Board, if required by the employing institution.
