RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Handles to conclusion the most serious and complex commercial bodily injury and/or property damage claims. Makes decisions within maximum authorization; recommends settlement values in the disposition of serious and complex claims. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service.
2. Plans and executes all time schedules necessary to promptly and effectively apply best claims practices to conclude all assigned cases in accordance with company guidelines.
3. Utilizes various methods of settlement in those cases where warranted. Assigns cases within to outside vendors as warranted.
4. Provides reserve analysis to ensure timely and accurate case reserves in accordance with Best Claims Practices.
5. Maintains current knowledge of: assigned insurance lines; court decisions which may impact the claims function; current guidelines in the claims function; and policy changes and modifications. This may require attendance at various seminars or training session
6. May provide advice, counsel, and training to Claims Representatives of all levels. Provides specialized training and consultation to nonclaims areas as requested.
7. Creates and analyzes severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to home office, claims management, and underwriting.
8. Oversees defense counsel in all lawsuit activities from inception throughout the life of the claim.
9. Provides advice, counsel, and training to Claims Representatives of all levels. Provides specialized training and consultation to nonclaims areas as requested.
10. Delivers a positive On-Your-Side customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.
11. Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate degree or post-graduate studies preferred.
Licenses/Designations: State licensing where required. Successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training/classes. Experience: Eight years commercial casualty claims handling experience preferred.
Knowledge: Proven superior knowledge of best claims practices used to resolve the most severe and complex bodily injury and property commercial claims. Proven knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology and legal aspects of court procedures affecting legal liability for all lines of insurance. Ability to operate various claims systems and related software.

Skills/Competencies: Proven ability to meet customer needs and provide exemplary service by informing customers of the claims process and ensuring a positive customer experience. Analytical skills to make independent decisions and resolve conflict in such areas as application of coverage to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigation facts, application of policy exclusions and exceptions. Ability to coordinate with defense counsel in the handling of cases involving serious and sometimes complex liability issues from inception through trial. Command of written and verbal communication skills for contact and/or negotiation. Organizational skills to effectively establish work priorities in accordance with objectives and standards. Ability to operate PC and related software.

JOB SUMMARY: Investigates and resolves personal lines property damage claims via phone and face-to-face claims handling of a moderate to severe nature. Promotes and provides "On Your Side" customer service. Responsible for the handling of claims in accordance within prescribed authority and adhering to best claims practices.

RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Claims Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promptly and effectively handles to conclusion all assigned claims with little to no direction and oversight. Makes decisions within delegated authority as outlined in company policies and procedures. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct consistent with the delivery of superior service.
2. Determines proper policy coverages and applies best claims practices to conclude assigned cases in accordance with company guidelines. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service.
3. Opens, closes and adjusts reserves in accordance with company practices designed to ensure reserve adequacy. Recommends Special Reserves where necessary. In accordance with Corporate Reserving Guidelines. Adheres to file conferencing notification and authority procedures.
4. Maintains current knowledge of insurance and applicable product/services; court decisions which may impact the claims function; current guidelines in the claims function; and policy changes and modifications. This may require attendance at various seminars and/or training sessions.
5. Maintains current knowledge of local industry repair procedures and local market pricing.
6. Submits severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to claims management as needed.
7. Partners with SIU and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities. Assists or prepares files for suit, trial, or subrogation. (Property/MD/Casualty).
8. Initiates and conducts follow-ups via proficient use of the claims systems and other related business systems.
9. Delivers a positive On-Your-Side customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.
10. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service.
11. Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Licenses/Designations: State licensing where required. Successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training/classes.
Experience: Three to five years related property claims experience. Experience in a customer service environment including flexible work schedules and extended work hours preferred.

Knowledge: General knowledge of insurance theory and practices, and contracts and their application. Property estimating and automated claims systems. Proven knowledge of the investigation, negotiation and settlement activities used to resolve extensive property damage claims.

Skills/Competencies: Proven ability to meet customer needs and provide exemplary service by informing customers of the claims process and ensuring a positive customer experience. Analytical and problem solving skills necessary to make decisions and resolve conflict in such areas as application of coverages to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigation facts, application of policy exclusions and exceptions. Ability to establish repair requirements and cost estimates for property losses. Ability to evaluate and successfully negotiate property claims. Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work. Command of written and verbal communication skills for contact and/or negotiation with policyholders, claimants, repairpersons, attorneys, agents and the general public. Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and related claims and business software. Provided leadership to to less experienced claims associates

JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: Normal office or field claims environment. May require ability to sit and operate telephone and personal computer for extended periods of time. Representatives may be required to operate an automobile and have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Must be able to make physical inspections of property loss sites. Must be able to climb ladders, balance at various heights, stoop, bend and/or crawl to inspect vehicles and structures. Must be able to work out-of- doors in all types of weather. Must be willing to work irregular hours and to travel with possible overnight requirements. May be on-call. Must be available to work catastrophes (CAT). Extended and/or non-standard hours as required.

JOB SUMMARY: Works within broad limits and authority on specialty claims assignments of highest technical complexity and coordination.
Investigates and maintains claims specialty such as environmental (asbestos, toxic tort and/or pollution) or construction defect. Coordinates
assigned claims service to policyholders or complex cases in a specialty area. Promotes and provides On Your Side Service to customers.
Provides technical advice to lower level special claims staff and other functional areas

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Completes thorough review and analysis of claims of the highest levels of complexity. Investigates liability and damages.
2. Brings files to closure, either by voluntary dismissals or by negotiation of settlements.
3. Determines amount of appropriate settlements or grounds for denial. Assists in the drafting of settlement documents.
4. Provides reserve analysis to ensure timely and accurate case reserves in accordance with Best Claims Practices.
5. Negotiates cost share agreements between other insurance carriers and policyholders.
6. Maintains current knowledge of: assigned insurance lines; court decisions which may impact the claims function; current guidelines in the
claims function; and policy changes and modifications. This may require attendance at various seminars or training session
7. Creates and analyzes severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to home office, claims management, and
underwriting.
8. Performs continuous review of claims inventory. Prepares appropriate internal reports, memos and analysis on a regular basis.
9. Determines duty to defend and selects Defense Counsel as appropriate. Closely monitors outside counsels work product. Reviews and gives input in all levels to interrogatories, etc., in each case. Manages litigation when appropriate.
10. Serves as company witness on coverage position at depositions. Attends mediation sessions in attempt to resolve claims. Prepares
legal audits at various law firms.
11. Provides advice, counsel, and training to Claims Representatives of all levels. Provides specialized training and consultation to nonclaims
areas as requested.
12. Delivers a positive On-Your-Side customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.
13. Serves as lead claims representative in area of specialty. Serves as backup to claims management. Assists with selection and training
of new representatives.
14. Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate degree in related field. Postgraduate studies preferred.
Licenses/Designations: State licensing where required. Relevant professional designations or certifications desirable (CPCU, CLU, IIA, AEI,
etc.)

Experience: Eight years of specialty claims experience.
Knowledge: Proven superior knowledge of best claims practices used to resolve the most sever and technically complex claims. Proven
knowledge of insurance contracts and legal aspects affecting regulatory and liability issues that relate to environmental and other specialty
claims.

Skills/Competencies: Proven ability to meet customer needs and provide exemplary service by informing customers of the claims process
and ensuring a positive customer experience. Ability to lead and train employees in all aspects of specialty claims review. Advanced oral
and written communication skills for interaction with technical experts, insured's, federal agencies, the legal profession and other insurance
companies. Ability to operate a personal computer and related business and claims software. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple
assignments.
