This announcement will be used to fill various permanent, full time, part time and intermittent Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) vacancies at the Forensic Nursing Home for in St Peter.
Hours of work: Day/Evening Rotation, 6:00am - 2:30pm or 2:00pm - 10:30pm, and Nights 10:15pm - 6:15am, every other weekend.
The Forensic Nursing Home is a secure facility that provides nursing home level care to residents who are under court commitment or serving a sentence through the MN Department of Corrections. Residents served at this facility have physical and mental health needs, in addition to requiring assistance with daily cares. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the Charge RN, the LPN provides nursing duties such as medication administration, wound care, focused assessments and participates in resident care meetings.

Entry level practical nursing work may include but is not limited to:
•Administering medications, treatments, and other therapies following the practitioner’s orders and treatment plan for the resident.
•Assisting the client in developing optimal independence in living or assisting with activities of daily living.
•Completing assigned unit tasks.
•Monitoring, reporting and appropriately documenting interactions with resident.
•Collecting and reporting data about physical and mental health needs of the resident. Responding appropriately to resident’s physical and mental health needs. Documenting interactions, plans and resident responses to interventions offered. Assisting the RN in planning and implementation of the nursing plan of care and/or multi-disciplinary plans of care.
•Responding immediately and appropriately to emergency situations to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
•Maintaining professional boundaries in a manner that creates a positive and caring environment and an accepting attitude towards diversity in people.
•Must possess or be eligible for a Minnesota LPN License to be considered.
