Job Description: The Children's Center at Massasoit is a licensed child care and education facility which serves the needs of our students, faculty and staff. The NAEYC-accredited program provides for 24 children from 2.9 months through 5 years of age and serves as a teaching/learning laboratory for pre-service preparation and in-service training for early childhood educators. The Center is associated with the Child Care Education and Administration Associate Degree program.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assume responsibility for satisfactorily performing administrative, managerial, safety, staff development, and educational functions of the Center and is responsible for its entire operation. Manage the program in accordance with current statutes, regulations, policies and procedures for the purpose of ensuring that children placed in the Center receive appropriate physical, Complete all reports to the licensing boards, the Dept. of Early Education and Care and the National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as actively participate in the Massachusetts Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). Provide leadership in staff development and in service training for all Center Responsible for supervision and evaluation of all staff associated with the Center, will screen all applicants for professional positions, and assist in making recommendations for the hiring of staff associated with the Center. Supervise all educational activities of the Children's Center according to best practices and guidelines and to maintain required staff-to-child ratios. The candidate may perform classroom teaching duties during the absence of the regular teacher and the candidate is expected to supervise and mentor student interns learning at the Center. Confers with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment procedures. Prepares and submits facility budget and oversees its administration. Maintains necessary supplies and equipment. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and for keeping all student's and Center records up to date including medical and emergency contact information. Make sure that all fire regulations are met and ensure that safety standards are maintained. Support the Mission of the College as well as to attend appropriate College/community meetings and activities.
Requirements: The candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in early childhood education, child development or closely related field. A minimum of five years of experience successfully in a supervisory capacity operating a child care and early education center, preferably an NAEYC accredited site, with demonstrated experience in staff supervision, facilities and fiscal management is required. The candidate must meet Massachusetts EEC requirements for Director I; QRIS/NAEYC accreditation experience a plus. First Aid and CPR certificates are required. The candidate will directly supervise the staff, assess competencies, and complete required performance evaluations. The candidate is expected to supervise and mentor student interns learning at the Center. The successful candidate must work well in a diverse community college setting and exhibit ease in relating to children, parents, and staff. The candidate should be prepared to perform classroom teaching duties during the absence of the regular teacher. Such candidate will possess professional, interpersonal and team-building skills. Candidate must effectively communicate and be flexible. Successful program operations may necessitate travel to other program sites, agencies or meetings. The candidate is expected to be at the Center to meet with parents and staff when needed. The candidate will work closely with, and report directly to, the Dean of Public Service and Social Science. Strong management skills, collaborative style and sound judgment a must.

Additional Information: Position Status: This is a full-time non-unit position
Hours: 37.5 hours/week working between the hours of 7:00 AM -5:00 PM Monday - Friday
Salary/Benefits: Salary range: $68,223.00- $88,689.00. Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience, full benefits, non-unit professional.
