Status: Full-time Exempt

The Job
The Opportunity Network (OppNet) seeks a high-performing, mission-oriented individual to join its collaborative OppNet Fellows program team. The Internships and Career Success Assistant will report to the Program Manager of Career Success and work collaboratively with the OppNet Fellows team to secure internship and summer enrichment opportunities for college-level Fellows, develop and deliver innovative and culturally competent career readiness programming, and provide targeted advisory support that help Fellows graduate from college and transition to career-track jobs.

The Person
The ideal candidate will personally connect to the important work we do and value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) across the organization. The candidate will demonstrate DE&I values by actively participating in all organizational-wide learning sessions and self-reflection as well as working with others to enact changes that contribute to meeting the organization’s DE&I goals. The candidate should possess outstanding professionalism and discretion, organization and attention to detail, energy and initiative, the ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks on time, and a willingness to work on a wide range of assignments.

• College Internships and Enrichment Opportunities (35%)
o Work with the Program Manager of Career Success to identify and secure new college internship and enrichment partners
o Build, track, and maintain pipeline of college internship and enrichment partners
o Facilitate best fit placement of Fellows into summer opportunities, including student outreach, coaching, and liaising between partners and Fellows
o Engage in collaborative budgeting process with the Internships and Career Success Team to leverage summer opportunity funds and scholarships for both high school and college Fellows

• Program Management (30%)
o Deliver culturally competent college success and career readiness programming
o Become proficient in using existing outcomes measurement tools, including surveys, rubrics, and OppNet’s proprietary Career Fluency® Competency Model
o Collaborate with the College Success and the Curriculum and Special Events program teams to design and deliver high quality and high impact events for Fellows and partners, e.g. Employer Trainings, Winter Conference and Summer Series
o Generate quarterly dashboards and reports to show progress and demonstrate outcomes

• College Success Support (25%)
o Conduct check-in calls and campus visits with college-level OppNet Fellows throughout the fall and spring semesters
o Partner with College Success team to identify programmatic ways to reinforce the education to career connection

• Overall Program Assistance (10%)
o Participate in Career Fluency facilitation training
o Assist with facilitation for annual intensives and special events as needed, e.g. summer institute, college application boot camp, and college transition boot camp, speed networking, career fluency panels,
o Lead recruitment visits/information sessions at area high schools and interview prospective Fellows

Qualifications & Requirements
• U.S. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university;
• Two to three years of youth development and/or career development experience;
• Availability and willingness to work select evenings and some weekends;
• Demonstrated ability to connect with college-level students from historically underserved and underrepresented communities;
• Can help facilitate interactive workshops in rigorous but dynamic fashion, understands how to be both nurturing and demanding, appreciates boundaries, but not afraid to push or challenge;
• Demonstrated skill set in project management, including:
o ability to keep a project moving toward successful completion
o awareness of budget parameters
o ability to set and meet deadlines
o understands how metrics and competencies are connected to various projects
o effective cross-departmental communication
o detail oriented
o takes initiative
o can operate self-sufficiently and collaborative as part of a team
o outstanding organizational skills
o creative and critical problem-solving skills
• High comfort level working with education professionals, professional executives, donors and board members;
• Superb written and oral communication skills;
• Previous experience in career development with college and high school students;
• Relationship management skills - specifically with employer partners;
• Self-starter with hunger for growth: Takes initiative; can operate self-sufficiently, but also collaboratively as part of a team;
• Strong New York networks and knowledge of emerging career/industry trends; and
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for OppNet’s values and mission
