WHY DO ASIANS MAKE OVER $300.00 PER WEEK MORE THAN AFRICAN AMERICANS? (3744 hits)

Our team dug into some data over the years to determine SOLUTIONS to closing the social gaps of our offspring.

Through our analysis, 2 things jumped out that are very different in terms of ACADEMIC CHOICES AND CAREER CHOICES. Only an individual family can determine THE WHYS. We wanted to share the "WHAT" so that we can spread a CAN DO WILL DO ATTITUDE for our munchkins.

1) College graduation rate for Asian Men-54% African American Men-16.1%

2) Career Choices. Our team calculated the employment data and developed a list of the 28 HIGHEST GAPS in employment.

What if we could encourage more of our munchkins to explore these types of careers?
Did U know that NASA has a GREAT site to introduce science to children?
Do OUR children visit these types of FREE sites with THEIR PARENTS?

Our (Not mine, lol) children DO NOT visit these sites with THEIR PARENTS b/c parents are too busy sending their kids off to daycare to be raised by a bunch of strangers. Overall, great blog, though and thanks for sharing!

Was this study done on college grads exclusivly? What were the occupations sampled? Econmics one oh one...if everybody made a million dollars every thing would cost a billion. There always will be indians and there will have to be some chiefs. Not giving or taking anything from Asains. But I have to point out that most of the modern inventions were built right here in America and for lack of tact stolen and counterfieted by others. As far as IQ and drive there was a meeting publiticised yesterday..Billionaire ... No Asains were present. Not saying there are none and damn few were black. Still we were there. Now granted the rate of graduation needs to be improved. But I am saying it can't wait for our jits to grow up but it does have to start somewhere. Like right now would suit my taste better. We must examine the reasons these young men are failing to graduate. Lack of intelligence is not the answer. We know for sure...we are not all dummies and all Asians are not rocket scientist, nor white folks either. I all goes back to one of my favorite sayings/quotes TRAINED AND UNTRAINED. I will be awaiting the answers to my questions...or at least a point wher I can research these findings myself.
Is income a true indicator of quality of life...

Hi Mozell,

To answer some of your questions, it began looking at PURE WAGE DATA from the U.S. Government- Bureau of Labor Statistics Database. This is a U.S. analysis ONLY.
From analyzing the wage gaps we then looked at career choices of employed adults. From analyzing ALL listed in the BLS database we extracted the largest GAPS. From this list we analyzed requirements for hiring. From this list we determined the need for a bachelors degree to enter THOSE specific fields. So it was like an ONION. Constantly asking "WHY?"

So these were U.S. CITIZENS. Not Asians from other countries.

Most educators believe that the rate of graduation drops due to the weak early foundation. Did U know that a child who fails to meet 3rd grade reading requirements only has a 10% chance of EVER CATCHING UP to their same aged peers?

There are tons of studies that show by age 6 years old 90% of the human brain is already developed. Most children do not start school until age 6. So the children who are prepared at home tend to outperform those who show up to school UNTRAINED.

I have committed MY LIFE to focus on PREVENTION OF THE PROBLEM. So I am not sure what can be done for those who have already fallen through the cracks. There are tons of resources out there I know. But for the 0-6 years old, there is NO GOVERNMENT programs focused on COLLEGE TRAINING PREPARATION. Yet, if U visit ANY ELITE PRIVATE SCHOOL the TRAINING often begins at age 4.

Here is some beginning data and research that I did personally. I wrote a 12 part series of recommendations based on things that I see working within my own children. Currently they are scoring in the top 1% of their state NCLB tests. Don't have Spring '09 results yet but will be sure to post.

Thank you my sister. I will look at the data. I understand that those surveyed were required to have a bs minimum. With only 16% of AA graduating the data is lop sided from get out. There is no way to break the numbers down nor should there be, the kids are just not performing. I have also read studies that the gains made by these children were lost at third grade level..those who had early learning activities. It most be a continued excercise for the benefits to remain viable into pre adult learning stages. I will look at the data sis and see what I see. Thanks again.

But why would only 16% of AA graduate?

The few i have spoken with say finance is the main reason they drop out. I will do more research.

I was going to suggest THAT as a main reason but did NOT WANT TO ASSUME!
Once again it can be directed to EARLY PREPARATION.
$1.00 invested TODAY is worth so much in 15 years due to COMPOUNDING INTEREST. Too often I speak to parents who are scrambling in the later years to put away enough money. An old boss explained to me that in HIS family, when a woman was pregnant-THE COLLEGE FUND BEGAN-PERIOD.

The Asians (and forgive me for sounding anti-Christian but this is the truth) do not worship the 'White' God therefore they have retained their full CULTURE of : never disrespecting the FAMILY, the FAMILY is a unity, and even more important the INDIVIDUAL is responsiable for theri own action and not blame someone or something 'out there' when things go wrong or give praise to something, some one out there when things goes right for them...

They are majority Buddhist, and no, they do not worship a Buddhist God either.

And, may I add another truth...while the White majority were trying to keep the Blacks out of our colleges the Asians were able to sneak in and raise the GPA bar too high for the Whites(smile)
