BLACK TEEN EMPOWERMENT RADIO SHOW SUNDAT AT 3:00 p.m. - See YOU There (969 hits)

I'm sure weíd all agree much of our society and educational system is failing to inspire many of our children rather than inspiring them to not fail.

The Better Detroit Youth Movement was born out of an ongoing frustration with the lack of effort, insight and intelligence on the part of community stakeholders -- so-called resources --entrusted to enrich the lives of our youth.

Watching too many of our children simply not get it, or get too little, simply became too painful.

UniTee Design creates awareness and dialogue about the importance of being actively involved in an improved quality of life and learning for todayís young generation. We really need to find better ways to connect our children to their rich, beautiful heritage, history and culture.

In organizing The 1st National Black TEEN Empowerment Expo, nearly 400 of you reached out in interest about helping to support this event and its initiatives. However, many making promises delivered few. Even now in working with the fewer who seemed more committed, it seems even they canít or couldnít keep simple commitments. Truth is three of four souls I had some confidence in helping plan the expo didnít bother to join a conference call each had promised to be on just a week earlier.

Yes, our own needs and circumstances need be first. But unless we individually make collective sacrifices and strides to uplift our childrenís communities, we and they wonít get too far soon enough. Ttruth is together we can all go so much farther.

As usual, I donít expect a response from most to any of you. But if you do read this, know Iím used to overlooking people and promises to focus on forwarding my vision of a better world not just for a 16-month-old daughter, but all our children.

Indeed, Iím inspired to not fail. Lord knows my faith and passion will prevail.

What about you and yours?
