“Have a baby by me, Baby – Be on Welfare, be on Welfare!" (4868 hits)

God willing this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. (EST), The Brother Marcus Show will return back to the airwaves with another powerful discussion on what’s going on in our communities! One of the lyrics from the great rapper, 50 Cent, in his latest song on his new album says, "Have a baby by me, baby, be a millionaire. Well that may be true for 50 Cent but the reality for many women today is, if they have a baby by some of these males out here they may end up on welfare! Even though 61 percent of welfare recipients in America are White or Caucasian, when we say the word "welfare" most people immediately see the image of some lazy Black female welfare queen who breeds for profit. How come this hideous stereotype is alive and well at the close of 2009? How do movies like, “Precious”, which some are calling the worst depiction of black life yet done help to perpetuate these black myths and stereotypes?

What are your real thoughts about welfare, public assistance or TANF? Should we crackdown on these “horrible” little welfare cheats and ignore these obscure and greedy Corporate Welfare Queens that pillage the American treasury with every chance they get? Each year, U.S. taxpayers subsidize U.S. businesses to the tune of almost $125 billion, the equivalent of all the income tax paid by 60 million individuals and families! In these hard economic times, would you accept food stamps if you really needed them or are you to proud? Why are so many people from so called “affluent neighborhoods” applying for public assistance as never before? Would you accept a little help, if you could get it? Why does welfare spell farewell to productive living for so many?

Disclaimer: The Brother Marcus Show is a National and International Show that is open to all guests and callers, regardless of race, creed, class, color or religious affiliation. The purpose of the show is to teach the uncivilized people, who are savage - civilization (righteousness, the knowledge of himself, the science of everything in life-love, peace and happiness). God willing, we intend to have the most insightful discussions about what’s going on in this society, this country, and this world on a weekly basis. We only facilitate the discussions and are not anyone else's judge, jury or executioner. We love good, clean, open, honest dialogue about the real things that affect our collective lives. Before you call, please know that people are allowed to disagree with you on the Brother Marcus Show! So if you can’t take the heat stay out of our kitchen. As always, we thank you in advance for your participation!

By the way, consider these quotes people have made about welfare as we prepare for the show this weekend:

"Anyone who can walk to the welfare office can walk to work."
Al Capp

"Every time you cut programs, you take away a person who has a vested interest in high taxes and you put him on the tax rolls and make him a taxpayer. A farmer on subsidies is part welfare bum, whereas a free-market farmer is a small businessman with a gun."
Grover Norquist

"Crime, family dissolution, welfare, and low levels of social organization are fundamentally a consequence of the disappearance of work."
William J. Wilson

"If women have young children, they are one man away from welfare."
Gloria Steinem

"For women who turn to welfare, Big Brother becomes Husband."
Tammy Bruce

"I believe welfare makes you lazy and unproductive."
Charles Evers

"I'd go to, like, six different schools in one year. We were on welfare, and my mom
never ever worked."

"I was discriminated against because I was Jewish, Italian, black and Puerto Rican. But maybe the worst prejudice I experienced was against the poor. I grew up on welfare and often had to move in the middle of the night because we couldn't pay the rent."
Philip Zimbardo

“Poor people have big screen TVs. Rich people have big libraries.”
"Find out what poor people read, then don't read it."
"“The philosophy of the rich versus the poor is this: The rich invest their money and spend what is left; the poor spend their money and invest what is left.”
Jim Rohn

And finally a quote from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan:
“Jesus, one day, was talking to his disciples and the disciples asked him, "Master, when were you hungry and we fed you not? When were you naked and we clothed you not? When were you out of doors and we gave you not shelter? When were you sick and imprisoned and we ministered not unto you?" And Jesus said, "In as much as you have not done these things to the least of these, my brethren, you have not done it also unto me."Good government doesn’t just work for the big shot. Good government does not work just for the rich and the powerful. Good government is not good government unless it works for the least member of that society."
