"Laguneros" - Spanish for Lakers.....BUT (1343 hits)

....should they take a stand - of some sort - as it relates to playing their upcoming series in Arizona? Remember the NBA is about entertaining the fans and delivering basketball games. Period. (right)

Not so fast. The NBA Players Association has already called the recently passed Arizona law on immigration "disturbing?" Oh right, that was the Players Association and not the NBA.

So what do you think - should the Lakers take some sort of stand actual or symbolic at any point during the series? Many would like to see the team change their jerseys or wear headbands, or do a PSA.

Is it a big deal? Might we pay more attention to the discussion if the Lakers took a stand or are we paying (enough) attention already? Leave your comment AND prediction as to who will win the series!

What we believe about whether they should take a stand or not ultimately is not the issue. Men and women of conscience everywhere should stand against hate and disparate treatment of people. It has been said that all that is necessary for evil to prevail is to have good men stand by and do nothing. The Lakers are a sports franchise and not a civil rights organizations. Individual players should be able to do what their conscience leads them to do. The organization is understandably not in that business, but I think it would not be out of line for them to share their organizational position on the matter. I don't think they can boycott the series for contractual reasons.
