|
Posted By: autumn cade on July 06, 2010 Xavier University of Louisiana will be the host site of the New Orleans Hornets’ Inaugural Youth Leadership Academy, beginning July 5, 2010. In partnership with Royal Engineers and Consultants, the Hornets will host seventh, eighth and ninth graders from the Recovery School District in the XULA University Center, where participants will develop and fine tune life skills and discuss issues pertinent to their lives. From the release: Students will be involved in group discussions, listen to speeches from influential business and community leaders and participate in small break-out groups to tackle specific issues such as social networking, violence, etiquette and health and fitness. “We are committed to not only just teaching the youth of our community, but also making a long term commitment to them, which is why we are excited to partner with the Hornets to be a part of this program,” said President of Royal Engineers and Consultants Dwayne Bernal. “These students are our future engineers, lawyers, doctors and teachers, and it has been a long term passion to give them the tools to deal with the tough issues they face in today’s society while grooming them to reach their full potential as young adults.” http://www.hbcudigest.com/2010/07/xavier-l...
