Posted By: Jen Fad on April 08, 2011 Our community just won an important and hard-fought victory. After you and more than 285,000 others spoke out, leading to a loss of over 300 advertisers from his top-rated show, Glenn Beck's program on Fox News Channel will come to an end this year. As you likely recall, we launched our campaign against Beck in July of 2009 after he topped a week of race-baiting directed at President Obama with the most stunning statement of them all — he called Obama a "racist" who has "a deep-seated hatred for white people, or the white culture." Within days we approached Fox News' advertisers, asking them to stop supporting Beck's poisonous statements with their dollars. Most of you signed statements that we presented to advertisers. Thousands of you made phone calls when our staff's calls and your comments weren't enough. Within weeks, dozens of advertisers dropped the show. In the end, more than 300 advertisers decided that Beck was too much of a liability and requested that their commercials not be shown during Beck's program. In their statement announcing the shift, Fox News trumpeted Beck's ratings success. In reality, Beck's audience and ratings have been on the decline. Fox has also steadily refused to admit the obvious impact that the loss of more than 300 blue chip advertisers has on their bottom line. Beck's only advertisers have been lower-tier brands that could not have earned Fox News as much revenue as the upper-level brands — thus turning a show that should have been a top earner into a financial liability. Together, we've succeeded in doing something very important. We've helped hammer home the message that deception and race-baiting are not acceptable for a "news" network and that everyday people will hold accountable those who are responsible. And we'll continue to push back on Fox's race-baiting problem, which goes beyond Beck. But today's victory is important: Beck's voice, his incessant conspiracy theories, his dangerous incitement to violence, his casual race-baiting — all of these will be gone from television by year's end. And that's something for which we should all be proud. We want to thank CREDO, Media Matters, MoveOn.org, and StopBeck — all of whom played critical roles in the effort. But more than anyone, we want to thank YOU, our members, who helped us win this important victory. We couldn't have done it without you. I hear you Sister Irma but in my opinion being a producer of a show is an even more power spot than being a anchor since the producer has control over the material being reported. I think it like taking the Confederate Flag down from the top of South Carolina State House Building & putting it on the grounds to fly in everyone's face. That no more was a winning solution that having Beck become a Out Foxing producer. Puhleeze Color of Change give me a break and admit that this time your petition failed!!

Sister Irma, I beg to differ with you and Color of Change in that a real victory is that Beck should have been fired which is why I signed the petition. Let's agree to disagree on this one, because this is really not change in my opinion. When I signed the Color of Change petition regarding Lou Dobbs, he resigned from CNN. "I" will be the first one to fully admit that it is very, very hard / impossiablle to be able for so , so many (even) in the Black community to be able to come to terms that all Blacks are no always high on drugs...and, can accomplish some things that works in their favor of getting th erespect they deserve... so lets put it this way... Maybe the Fox networks decided that between paying more than over $ 57,000 per week for the Beck programs and the sponsors like the Gold ad people getting investegated by theFederal government for fixing gold prices and misleading the public that maybe they could do what????... have Beck go behind the scenes and maybe produce the Juan Williams hour on Fox? I am sure Fox don't want to loose all of those Blacks who would come on Beck's program to back him up on putting our president and Jews and Christians and Muslims down now would they? ...oops, Jen, did you see Gleen Beck living on, on the Jon Stewart @ the comedy channel tonight...? This program had two sponsor breaks to cover the skit of Beck by Jon... I am sure Beck is more popular than ever right now...but, I am also going to be the first one to say, "I" am sure Gleen Beck is not happy about his having endless sponsor in this day and time every place but on Fox. lol (smile) There is no lower news reporter's rung below that at FOX, or is there? lol (smile) Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM |

@JEN, THE PROBLEM WITH ARGUING BY WAY OF PERSONAL OPINIONS is it never has anything to do with the real world...example, the newtork paying to keep Beck o-n CAMERA NOT SPONSORS DON'T FORGET BECK HAD WHAT IS MOST WANTED ON TV NETWORKS... HIGH NEILSON RATINGS....WHICH COMES ONLY FROM SEEING AND HEARING HIS MESSAGES OF WHAT HE STands for...and someone or something must take up that hour...didn't fox just prove Juan Williams is more tahn qualified to be a public air waves anchor?????????????? this came from FOX when they gave him all of the $$$$$$$ bonus money, Jen and not from me... .DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE BECK WOULD RATHER NOT BE SEEN AND HEARD BY HIS ADORING PUBLIC...or that he does not have this much self-esteme, ego or why he signed his contract at fox for in teh firist place if not to connect directly with the public...
