DOVER, Del.- Head coach JP Blandin and his Delaware State University baseball staff have announced plans for the annual baseball alumni weekend, set this year for Oct. 28-29.
The 2012 Hornets squad will take on DSU baseball alumni in the fourth annual Mike Ingram Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 29 at DSU's Soldier Field. The game has been named in honor of former player and DSU alum, Mike Ingram, whose life was taken too early last Thanksgiving in a car accident. Ingram played for DSU from 2006 to 2009.
"Everyone who had the honor of knowing Mike understands that he valued his teammates, friends and family," stated Blandin. "Mike's spirit and commitment to renewing friendships will forever be captured in playing our annual alumni game."
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with alumni batting practice starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be a special presentation made at 9:15 a.m. with first pitch slated for 9:30 a.m.
There is no cost for the alumni contest. Participants are, however, encouraged to join the DSU Dugout Club. Refreshments will be served following the game.
The weekend will begin with a mixer on Friday, Oct. 28 at Uno's Pizzeria on Route 13 across from the DSU campus. Appetizers will be half-price in addition to drink specials.
