#1 vs. #2 In The Atlanta Football Classic

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic since it was announced that Southern University would replace Tennessee State as the opponent for Florida A&M in this Saturdays game.

Much of that hype has centered on the halftime show; the Human Jukebox vs. the Marching 100.

In July, HBCU Digest released a ranking of the top five black college bands in the nation. While you can make the argument that other bands could have been included in the top five, I dont believe there could be any argument about the top two. And now both bands can make their case.

Coming in at number two we have the Florida A&M University Marching 100. The Marching 100 has performed in presidential parades, at the Grammys and NFL Super Bowls. The 100 and founder, Dr. William P. Foster, are credited with developing of 30 innovative marching band techniques.

At the top of the HBCU marching band list is the Southern University Human Jukebox. Its been reported that former band director, Dr. Isaac Greggs, turned down the opportunity for perform in the hit movie Drumline. Apparently the script called for the Human Jukebox to place third in the movies battle of the bands. Greggs did not see how he could justify this to the students and alumni.
