Well, the problem is, there are millions of Americans who only vote party lines, regardless of anything else about the candidates. They could be either the best or worse choice, but pleanty of people only vote for the party to which they are registered. Some of them do so because they don't know that the party to which they may be registered does not prohibit them from voting from whichever candidate they choose. But also, some people view their own party is being good and the other party (parties) as bad, no matter the principles and platform of the individual candidates. Consequently, we need to do a better job of educating people better. Incidentally, most of the people who fall into either of these two categories are typically voters who are often classified as disenfranchised voters, those who are sometimes victims of trickery or intimidation to keep them from effectively exercising their right to vote, people who are most reliant on government for all of their needs. Funny how these are the ones who we disappoint the most, and that's something I wish political candidates would address, but I know nobody will ever touch that topic.
