Alma del Mar is an inclusive, K-8 Expeditionary Learning charter school that puts students on a college trajectory and challenges them to be service-minded leaders. By engaging in a rigorous academic program with an emphasis on meaningful work, our students will master essential skills and content, take ownership of their learning and think boldly while addressing complex academic and community issues. We believe that all of our students can achieve at high levels and will support them in doing the hard work necessary for success. We also believe that as our students develop an ethic of service, they will be inspired to do their best work in school and beyond. We are entering our second year and will serve scholars in grades K-3 in the 2012-13 school year. Founding Associate Teacher Role: Our Associate Teacher role is designed to give talented individuals new to the teaching profession a hands-on introduction to the craft. Associate Teachers will serve as part of a grade-level team, working in collaboration with and under the guidance of experienced Lead Teachers. Associate Teachers will take on increasing responsibility for lesson planning and lead teaching as the year progresses. They will receive ongoing professional development and frequent, targeted feedback and coaching. We seek top-talent individuals with serious soul and relentless drive who are ready to help build a phenomenal school.
