Would Marissa Alexander been better off if she had killed her husband?
Marissa Alexander tried to use the stand your ground laws in her defense during her trial on aggravated assault charges. It took a jury 12 minutes of deliberation to give Marissa Alexander 20 years for firing a warning shot into the air when confronted by an abusive husband. It took months to arrest George Zimmerman who also claimed stand your ground. The only differences besides race is that Zimmerman killed the only other witness. That leads me to this question.
