Alcorn first HBCU to receive Luther Vandross and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship (276 hits)
Alcorn State University has been selected in the first group of schools to receive the Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship that supports students attending seminary and Historically Black Colleges and Universities around the country. This scholarship is administered by The Philadelphia Foundation and will be awarded to a different group of HBCU’s every year.

Alcorn will identify one deserving student to receive a $1,000 scholarship. To qualify, the recipient should be in their 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of studying leading to an undergraduate degree, be a student in good standing, demonstrate financial need and hold a 2.5 or higher GPA.

“We are elated to partner with The Philadelphia Foundation,” said Marcus D. Ward, vice president for Institutional Affairs/interim executive director, ASU Foundation, Inc. “Every gift received during our Annual Fund Campaign matters and we are thankful for this gift from the Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship Fund. It will help deserving Alcorn students continue their quest for excellence.”
