Talladega College Leads Mardi Gras Parades In Nola
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 18, 2013 The Annual Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans, Louisiana had a new participant this year. The Marching Tornadoes led three of the parades in NOLA. Each year, thousands come to celebrate this festive season before Easter in New Orleans. Economically, over $840 million is spent in the area alone for this grand event. Some of the super parades: Endymion and Bacchus, have featured over 75 floats, 60 marching bands and over 2,300 members who toss millions of trinkets to attendants and visitors. This year, the Talladega College Marching Band led the Nyx, Bacchus and Orpheus parades at Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Thousands of visitors were able to enjoy the sounds of the Marching Tornadoes as they played and danced through the streets of NOLA. At the Endymion parade, Talladega College was second to appear in the line-up. “It was an honor to see our students perform before visitors from all over the world. Our students were excited and represented the College well during these festivities,” remarks Talladega College President, Dr. Billy C. Hawkins.
