First Christmas at College? 4 Tips to Make Your Roommates’ Holiday Special (145 hits)

The holidays are always an important part of our childhood memories. When you grow up, Christmas is different than it was as a kid. However, it doesn’t need to be different in a bad way. Going to college gives you a chance to explore new options with roommates. Here are four tips to make your roommates’ holiday special.

Use Coupons

You might want to get gifts for your roommates but be unable to do due to your budget. It’s important to remember that it’s the thought that counts most. You don’t have to get anything especially extravagant, just as long as it’s from the heart. However, if you want to, you can find a way to save great amounts of money on gifts. The key is through coupons.

There are all kinds of deals you can find around the holiday season. You can scour through catalogs and ads for stores. There are also online deals you can find, through a groopdealz coupon. Finding deals can really add up in a substantial way. Look for gifts that would be perfect for your roommates and then find coupons that apply to them. You would be giving a gift to your wallet as well as your roommates.

Decorate

The Christmas season is all about feeling love, and that can go away a bit when you’re away from home. In order to give your possibly-homesick roommates a lift, decorating can make a big difference. You might not have space in your dorm for a full-size Christmas tree. However, you can certainly find a smaller, aluminum one for a good price. You can also do things like put up tinsel, stockings, and lights.

If you want, you can definitely find decorations for a great price. Look for deals at thrift shops in your area. If you’re feeling particularly crafty, you can make your own decorations with construction paper and other tools. Go to a crafts supply store in your area and revel in all there is.

Go out

There are all kinds of activities to take part in during the Christmas season. You should take advantage of this by going with your roommates. You can go ice skating, check out Christmas light shows, or go caroling. You can also give back to the community by volunteering together. Consider doing things like volunteering at a food bank or giving out meals at a soup kitchen. You can really feel great for doing something good for others.

The weather might be cold, but you shouldn’t feel like you have to be cooped up. Provided the roads are clear enough, you can really have a lot of fun. It can also be as simple as just going for a walk in the snow. (Though, this might also turn in a snowball fight).

Make Dinner

Holiday dinners are a cornerstone of any memorable Christmas. When you live in a dorm room, you might think that you’re kept from a good Christmas dinner. However, you can certainly have a wonderful meal if you’re willing to use some ingenuity.

Look for recipes for meals that can be made with dorm technology, such as microwaves. You can also get some stuff pre-prepared. The most important thing to remember though is to enjoy the company of your friends. Be glad that you’re sharing this holiday with them. You can also have a great conversation with them around the table.

The holiday season is a time to make great memories. Since college is also associated with great memories, you can bring the two together. By thinking creatively, you can give your roommates an absolutely wonderful Christmas.
