Lilburn, GA- Following in her coach's footsteps, Senior Chantel Roberts has been accepted into the WBCA "So You Want To Be A Coach' program to be held at the 2018 WBCA National Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

Chowan's head coach LaToya Jones was selected in 2008 for the program. "I am extremely excited for Chantel Roberts' acceptance to the program," state Jones. "As a 2008 graduate, I am fully aware of the prestige, advantages, and wealth of knowledge gained after completion of the program. It is my hope that the same opportunity is granted for Chantel. She wants to be a coach and influence this generation."

Presented in partnership with the Alliance of Women Coaches, the WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" program assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking and exposure opportunities. The program also increases awareness regarding the availability of talented female basketball players who want to coach.

The WBCA has assembled a group of experienced coaches and administrators who will serve as resources and share their knowledge, as well as provide you with networking opportunities which will help you in securing a coaching position. It is our hope that this will not only be a beneficial experience that will assist you in your endeavors to enter the coaching profession, but one that is also memorable and fun!

"Basketball has been both rewarding and life-changing for Chantel, and I am excited for the plans that God has and the doors that will open for her in the future," added Jones.

ESPN Columnist and Author, Kate Fagan will be in attendance as a speaker at the WBCA Convention.

Chantel Roberts becomes the second Chowan player to be selected as Najah Dail-Harris was selected in 2011. Former assistant coaches Alexandra Street and Chelsea Haines were selected during their tenure with the Hawks.
