College Checklist: 5 Things to Do Before Moving Away to College (36 hits)

Going away to college is quite a bridge in a young person’s life. When moving to a new city or state to further your education, you need to think about what needs to be taken care of at home. This can be a stressful endeavor, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are five things to do before moving away to college.

Get Your Teeth in Shape

When you come to college, you want to meet as many people as possible. Having a great smile is key in order to attract people to you. Look for cosmetic dentistry options such as dental implants from somewhere like A-Dental Center that will allow your teeth to stand out in the best way possible. It can give you a new lease on your looks and make you feel fantastic.

Go through Your Room

You can’t bring everything with you to college. So, you’ll need to decide what’s expendable at home. You might have a lot of beloved items that you have to part way with. Take the time to assess what you want to take to college with you, what you’re okay with leaving behind, and what you want to give away.

Spend Time with Family and Friends

You might take your family and hometown friends for granted, but before you know it, they won’t be so easily accessible. In the time before moving away to college, you should spend as much time with each of them as possible. You should do things like go to movies, baseball games, and dinners. Make sure you let them know just how much you appreciate them.

Save Money

Things like your dorm and food might be paid for through tuition, but you should still put money aside for other college expenses. Textbooks can be very expensive and need to be purchased each semester. You will also want to have money for entertainment and things like gas if you’re bringing your car to campus. You want to make sure you have a decent bankroll when it comes to college.

Get in the School Mindset

The difference between high school and college is that you have to rely all on yourself to make it through college. In order to stay studious, you should train yourself during the summer. You should read regularly, go to bed at a decent manner, and review any skills that need sharpening.

We hope this has given you a great idea for what to do before moving away to college. By preparing properly, you can ensure that your transition to college is as smooth as possible.
