About Our Guests:
Prof. Jerald Hoover:
Jerald is an adjunct professor at Long Island University Brooklyn where he teaches Sport Communication and Sport Management. Jerald has had teaching stints at the Korean American Heritage Foundation where he taught English to Korean born students visiting the USA and at the renowned Eagle Academy for boys where he also taught English. He is editor-in-chief and senior writer at Pure Sports New York. Jerald has also been a sportswriter for over 17 years and has covered the New York Knicks and New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets: for Black Athlete Sports Network, The Network Journal, Sport New York Style and BustaSports.com. Jerald is also an award winning novelist and filmmaker.

Nichelle Cook:
Nichelle is an experienced educational consultant, instructional designer, educator, and policy advocate. She has taught in both primary and secondary classrooms and wholeheartedly ascribes to the belief that all students deserve to learn in an environment conducive to the maximization of their God-given gifts and talents. As such, she has dedicated her career to advocating for policies that promote equitable resources for the holistic well-being of students in under-served populations, designing instructional materials that are both culturally relevant and engaging, and facilitating instruction in a manner that caters to various learning styles and exceptionalities.

Nichelle's advocacy efforts also extend to the field of public health where she focuses on strategically aligning resources to address health and healthcare inequities and the social determinants of health that detrimentally impact the lives of Louisiana's most vulnerable residents. Among her specific focus areas are adolescent health outcomes, accessibility of quality healthcare in urban and rural communities, and the impacts of childhood trauma.
