McDonald's Presents Second of Four $10,000.00 scholarships facilitated by Thurgood Marshall College Fund! (150 hits)

Initially, the 77th McDonald’s Magic City Classic may have been all out the rivalry between two football teams and two world-class marching bands, but it was also a victory for Alabama State University (ASU) student Brea Williams. McDonald’s presented the junior with a $10,000 True to the HBCU scholarship, facilitated by Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), during halftime of the legendary classic.

As a brand, McDonald’s is committed to educational empowerment and being deeply rooted in the community. This is the second of four scholarships the brand is presenting to commendable students to help cover higher education expenses, such as tuition, room, board and books, that can sometimes hinder students from achieving graduation.

While maintaining a 3.8 grade point average, Brea actively serves in her community through mentorship and voter registration. The Virginia native also volunteers as a Teacher’s Aide at the Early Childhood Center on ASU’s campus where she helps preschool and kindergarten children.

“Attending an HBCU means I am a part of history! I chose to attend an HBCU because the experience is like no other, from the rich history that you feel as you step onto any campus to the family-like atmosphere. I strongly believe in my African-American community and the potential that it possesses, which is why an HBCU was my only choice for my undergraduate degree!” - Brea Williams

McDonald’s is celebrating history, heritage and legacy in its support of HBCUs across the country as a part of its True to the HBCU program. Next up, the Golden Arches will present two students with a $10,000 scholarship at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa on November 9th and The Florida Blue Florida Classic in Orlando on November 17th.

Attached you will find FREE IMAGES of Brea Williams’ big moment. Please credit: (Donald Trail / Soul Brother). Let me know if you’re interested in covering this well-deserving student. I’m happy to help set up an interview if you’d like.
