THE CAST OF JOHN SINGLETON'S "SNOWFALL" TALK ABOUT THE LATE DIRECTOR'S LEGACY WITH TANISHA LAVERNE GRANT (2691 hits)

Entertainment journalist and red carpet correspondent Tanisha LaVerne Grant REPORTING LIVE from the red carpet at the season 3 New York City premiere of John Singleton's hit FX show "Snowfall." John Singleton passed away two months ago April 28th after suffering a massive stroke. The late director came to fame in the early 1990's with his American classic film "Boyz in the Hood" which garnered him two Academy award nominations including Best Screenplay and Best Director making him the youngest person and first African American to be nominated in the "Best Director" category. His body of work includes a list of films that shows BLACK life as beautiful and nuanced. His iconography is powerful beyond measure and his contributions and presence in Hollywood will be missed. His latest project "SNOWFALL" was a resurgence in a career introducing a whole new generation to his CINEMATIC genius. Snowfall returns with season 3 on July 10th at 10p on FX.

About Snowfall
It's the summer of 1984, and it's season three of Snowfall. Crack cocaine is spreading like wildfire through South Central Los Angeles, continuing its path of destruction and changing the culture forever. Police are waking up to this growing epidemic, and Sergeant Andre Wright (Marcus Henderson) has set his sights on budding Kingpin and next-door neighbor Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his people.  While local law enforcement fights to stem the tide, Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson) and the CIA are working hard to make sure the flow of cocaine into L.A. doesn't stop. To continue funding the war against communism in Central America, Teddy will need to find new routes into the United States using Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and what's left of the Villanueva family. As the stakes and losses continue to mount, our players truly begin to understand the destructive force they have set in motion and must reexamine their own motivations and the cost of continuing forward from here.

Created by the late John Singleton & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, Snowfall is executive produced by Singleton, Amadio, Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London and Trevor Engelson. Andron serves as showrunner.
