VIEW LIST OF COMPANIES; http://www2.monstertrak.monster.com/produc... Over the years we have hosted hundreds of first class graduate and professional schools and employers from all across the country, eager to recruit Howard University 's finest students. Take full advantage of these outstanding opportunities by registering with the Career Services Office using the following instructions: Dressing for the Career Fair You’ve heard it said time and time again that you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. How many times have you had to beat yourself up for not taking full advantage of the single shot you had at presenting yourself in the best way possible and lost that golden opportunity to land that internship, summer job, scholarship, or graduate assistantship? Though an impressive GPA and resume are critical to the success of your career search, how you present yourself is equally, if not more critical to making the impression that puts you ahead of the pack in the race for that highly desired position. Depending upon your fashion style, whether it is the latest trends for the club scene or mere college senior casual, a job interview, whether at a career fair or in a formal office setting, may be the cause for some drastic wardrobe augmentation. In most business and technical interviews, when it comes to your appearance, conservatism and conformity are in order. While many companies have adopted the “official casual” dress code, don’t try to set new standards in the interview. When in doubt, it is better to be too conservative than to be too flashy. For men and women, a suit is the best bet. A Final Check Of course, your appearance is only as good as your grooming. Create a final checklist to review before you go on an interview and/or attend the Career Fair: Attend to your personal hygiene (Take a shower and brush your teeth.) Neatly trim hair. Clean your fingernails. Ladies, wear conservative make-up. No runs in your stockings. Shoes polished. No excessive jewelry: men should refrain from wearing earrings. No missing buttons, crooked ties, or lint. Iron your shirt. Dark colored suits are preferable (navy, gray, charcoal). They carry more authority than lighter shades. Stand and walk with your head erect. Keep your hand gestures to a minimum. Offer a firm but not bone-crushing handshake (both male and female). Make eye contact with the interviewer. A pleasant and confident smile is recommended. A poker look on your face conveys a too serious, contemplative persona.
