Assistant Ethanol Plant Scientific Analyst (2 Positions)
The Assistant Ethanol Plant Scientific Analystís primary objective is to assist in research and with client services by performing analytical assays and tests associated with grant-funded or contractual projects. Primary duties include assisting in fermentation research and quality control for analytical laboratory commercial services, troubleshooting various scientific instruments, and ensuring the laboratory follows all standard regulations and safety regulations correctly.

Additionally, the Assistant Ethanol Plant Scientific Analyst will assist in specific chemical tests on various substances and record such data in preparation of scientific reports and will follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) of sample collections, storage and archiving. The Assistant Analyst will work closely with private sector clients to maintain specified research protocols within an environment of strict business confidentiality.

The Assistant Ethanol Plant Scientific Analyst may be assigned additional tasks in support of the departmentís mission and goals.

This position is a current civil service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This position will close to applicants at close of business, 4:30 pm CST, on the posting end date.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
1. Any one or acceptable combination of the following:
(a) Bachelor's degree in life science or closely related field.
(b) Associates in Applied Science (AAS) AND two (2) years of industrial and/or commercial lab experience.
(c) Four (4) years of industrial and/or commercial lab experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Skills and knowledge of analytical chemistry and fermentation.
Must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, strong communication skills and be a team player.
