Academic Advisor, College of Arts and Sciences (6770)
The Academic Advisor provides advisement services to students in the College of Arts and Sciences. These services include informing students of accurate and current curricular information, clarifying program major and minor requirements, conducting transfer-credit evaluation, providing program admissions information, informing students of probationary/suspension status, reviewing commencement eligibility, and conducting graduation checks. The Academic Advisor will also assist with program recruitment and retention, and maintain all appropriate records for students under their guidance.
Additionally, the Academic Advisor will assist the College in short-term and long-term academic program planning and support, help maintain curriculum guides, serve as a referral to other offices and agencies, and provide counsel with regard to program changes and career plans.
The professional responsibilities of this position may necessitate evening hours and occasional weekend hours. The Academic Advisor may be assigned additional duties that support the College’s mission and goals.

Qualifications & Requirements The following must be clearly stated within your application materials ---
Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Academic Program within the College of Arts and Sciences, or closely related field.
Knowledge of college student development, academic advising theory, and the college environment.
Knowledge of student support services available to college students.
Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and personal rapport with diverse populations.
Ability to demonstrate administrative and organizational skills.
Ability to use computerized student information systems (Banner, PeopleSoft, Datatel, etc) and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Ability to demonstrate how you have assisted students with the adjustment to college-level expectations.
Minimum of two years working within a college/university setting, either as graduate assistant or full-time professional.
Minimum of one year working full-time in the field of academic advising, or a related position.
Bachelor's degree from a major within the College of Arts and Sciences.
