Job Description
Assistant Professor of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Maine seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in Clinical or Counseling Psychology starting August 2018. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach introductory psychology, psychopathology, and other relevant courses.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, undergraduate teaching in psychological science, a program of research/scholarship, effective student advising/mentoring, and service to the department, university, community, and discipline. The typical teaching load is 3 courses per semester. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to teach courses that satisfy CORE requirements. The Department is housed within the College of Science, Technology, and Health. Department offices are located on the Portland campus where the majority of courses are held, but courses may be offered on any USM campus or online, depending upon faculty availability and interest, among other factors. Qualifications:
• PhD in clinical or counseling psychology by the time of appointment (estimated 8/27/18).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching introductory psychology, psychopathology, and other relevant courses.
• Demonstrated potential for a program of research which can engage students and lead to peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
• Experience/interest in applying innovative learning practices (e.g., flipped classroom, discussion-based instruction, and/or online learning).
• Commitment to/experience in fully engaging with students as a faculty, advisor, and mentor.
• Commitment to/experience with diversity-related issues relevant to mental health and well-being.
• Commitment to departmental, university, community, and disciplinary service.

Salary range: mid 50’s
