Assistant Director, Student Financial Aid (6904)
As a member of the management team, the Assistant Director reports to the Associate Director of the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) and is responsible for the day-to-day activities within the OSFA Customer Service and Outreach Unit.
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Conduct hiring actions, arrange for department training, provide daily supervision, conduct necessary evaluations, handle any needed disciplinary actions, and assign duties for Customer Service and student employees.
-Manage and coordinate the daily Customer Service schedule for adequate phone coverage, front counter coverage and outreach programs.
-Ensure the Customer Service unit provides top level customer service, advice and counseling to students and families as they make decisions about their college planning and financing.
-Review and recommend changes and oversee implementation for efficiencies or operations.
-Develop and maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all job related processes for use in policy and procedure manual and cross-training purposes.
-Act as a the liaison to facilitate communication including problematic student disputes to the Office of the Chancellor, Office of Academic Advising, Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Student Affairs and the Bursar.
-Plan, implement, and maintain activities necessary for providing superior student service in a highly automated environment including researching and recommending departmental processes and procedures to improve customer service, retention and increase/improve operational efficiency.
-Participate in public relations, recruitment, retention and other outreach activities of the Student Financial Aid Office and the University.
The Assistant Director will also assure that the OSFA’s processing and administration of financial aid both comply with federal and state regulations as established by the U.S. Department of Education, the State of Illinois, and the Director and Associate Director of SIUE’s Office of Student Financial Aid.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the center’s mission and goals.

Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Significant and extensive experience in financial aid.
-Knowledge of financial aid regulations, both at the federal and state level.
-Ability to work closely with students, faculty, and staff in order to communicate policy and regulations.
-Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
-Demonstrated service aptitude and ability to work independently as well as with students and parents, and colleagues, as a member of a team in a diverse environment with a diverse population.
-Proven ability to set work priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
-Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
