Job Description
Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Bellarmine University invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. Preferred candidates will hold or be eligible for physical therapist licensure in Kentucky, have previous academic teaching experience and hold an advanced doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc or advanced practice DPT). Candidates without an academic doctorate but have advanced practice DPT should also have current ABPTS certification. Applicants with an established research agenda, history of scholarship and a peer-reviewed publication record will be given preference. We are seeking innovative professionals with expertise in the areas of one or more of the following: musculoskeletal physical therapy, human movement/kinesiology/biomechanics, and medical screening/differential diagnosis. Candidates with foundational physical therapy skills and other areas of established expertise that complement the current faculty will be considered.

This position will join a department of 16 dynamic core faculty and nearly 40 associated faculty. The core faculty collectively holds nine ABPTS specialization certifications in six certification areas. The successful candidate will value the University's Catholic identity and tradition, and will support the University's vision and mission, commitment to service and hospitality, and the intellectual, ethical and moral development of all students.

The DPT Program is proud of their state-of-the-art facilities and extensive curricular integrated service-learning activities and international experiences. The Program is located in a collaborative and collegial environment and is part of the School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Professions. The College of Health Professions is growing to meet the needs of the healthcare workforce and has recently added new programs in Health Services and Senior Living, a Masters in Athletic Training and a PhD in Health Professions Education. The DPT Program is CAPTE accredited (thru 2024) and receives significant community and administrative support. Additional unique features of the DPT Program include a state of the art human gross anatomy laboratory, an externally funded physical therapy leadership development program, endowed on- and off-campus service-learning clinics, and two collaborative ABPTRFE accredited residency programs (Neurological and Geriatric).
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:

An earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc; advanced practice DPT with ABPTS certification will be considered);

Current or eligibility for PT licensure in Kentucky;

Experience in one of the following practice areas: musculoskeletal physical therapy, human movement/kinesiology/biomechanics, and medical screening/differential diagnosis;

Experience in an academic environment inclusive of a record of excellence in teaching and a history of service to the profession;

A strong record of scholarship and history of teaching and service;

Academic and experiential qualifications necessary to meet Program objectives and mission of the university, CAPTE and APTA standards;
